Western Australia • The Latest Climate Science - consequences, risks and opportunities for Western Australia This is an invitation to a special Environment Matters presentation, to hear the latest climate science and the opportunities and risks for Western Australia. Ongoing scientific research on global greenhouse gas emissions is necessary to provide us with an understanding of what is happening to our climate and the challenges we face in dealing with the consequences of escalating global temperatures. Presenters: Professor Jean Palutikof - Currently Director of the National Climate Change Adaptation Research Facility at Griffiths University. Dr Graeme Pearman – A national and international expert in research on increasing levels of carbon dioxide in the global atmosphere. This forum is ideal for CCWA affiliates and supporters, those working or studying in climate change policy, advocacy and research areas and members of the community interested in learning more about the latest climate science implications for WA and Australia. • 10th WA Environment Festival - Winds of Change The Festival is held in the naturally beautiful grounds (1.7ha) of Rockingham Environment Centre, a place of ‘natural encounters’, located opposite Australian Heritage Listed Lake Richmond in Peron. There will be a wide range of activities, performances, eco-educational displays and events. Stalls and various performers provide entertainment throughout the weekend. This vibrant event provides excitement and stimulation, whilst presenting quality of life options. Free hands-on activities for children can be found in the Try It Yourself section. FREE entry and nearby parking is available. Bus 551 stops right outside the door. This is a non smoking event, with BYO food and non alcoholic drinks or….purchase from vendors on site.
