| Q. Are there any Feng Shui aspects that could perhaps make a business more profitable and successful? |
| A. With any business the main objective is to create financial success. Therefore it is important to locate the direction of your incoming prosperity. Once you know the prosperous direction then you position the ‘till’ area in this location so that when you face the client you are looking at this auspicious direction welcoming your money and the customer is turning their back on their money – thereby giving it to you. To further stimulate this energy it is important to place a constantly moving object such as a water feature at this point. |

|
| Q. I am confused about where to place my Money Frog – can you please help? |
| A. The frog is best placed at the entrance of your home or office so that the mouth and coin of the Money Frog are facing inside your home. In this way he can bring the desired results into your home or office. |
| |
|
| Q. Where is the best position for the bed? |
| A. One of the fundamental placement principles of Feng Shui in the bedroom is to place the head of the bed so that it is against a solid wall. The reason for this is that the bedroom is considered to be a room for regeneration of the mind, body and soul. Hence to have too much movement around you is not considered favourable and placement against an opening such as a window should be avoided. |

|
| Q. Can the Feng Shui in an established house be improved? |
A. Absolutely!! There are many thousands of people who have been able to effect positive change in their lives by implementing various Feng Shui strategies. However, the degree of positive change that can be achieved will be determined by: 1.) The degree of challenges that your home provides 2.) By what you are able and willing to change. |
| |
|
| Q. Where in the home do you place your lucky money coins? |
| A. The Lucky Money Coins are usually placed at the front entrance of the home. However the alternatives would be at any entrance to the home or in the living area. |
| |
|
| Q. Is bad energy left behind in a house after an argument is had? If so how can you get rid of it? |
| A. I most definitely believe that this is the case. Have you ever walked into friends home and even though they are all smiles you can just feel that tension. It's the same sort of thing. In order to cleanse your home of this I would recommend two simple options. The first is to purchase a White Sage Smudgestick (there are many varieties of smudgesticks but I prefer the pure variety of White Sage) and cleanse the home in this manner. Then, burn quality incense or oil of Sandalwood. |
| |
|
| Q. Is it true that the number of your house can have an effect on its Feng Shui? |
| A. I believe that everything is intertwined with each other and that all things have an effect. It is merely the degree of the effect and whether it is negative or positive that needs to be determined. Therefore, in terms of Feng Shui and Numbers of a home, they do have an impact however that impact is considerably less than the way the internal rooms of the home are utilised. |
| |
|
| Q. How to protect the house from “bad vibes from outsiders”? |
| A. On a trip to Sicily we went to a village that was renowned for its symbolic plaques outside each front door. Some of these plaques, in my view, were quite aggressive in their tone and therefore would not be something I would consider. From a Chinese Feng Shui perspective however, you could place a pair of Fu Dogs or a pair of Temple Lions outside the front entrance of your home or if a smaller version is more suitable, just inside the main entrance. However, if the style of your home does not suit this option then look for plaques that have symbols of protection or happiness so that you may hang these around your main entrance. |

| A. Bodhisattva, (also spelled Boddhisattva), means "enlightened being" and is a key figure in Mahayana Buddhism. | Q. What is a Mudra? |
| A. Mudra’s are a symbolic, non verbal mode of communication via hand gestures and finger postures. They are often used in the depiction of various buddha’s and identify deeper meaning within the pose.

| Q. How do you suggest I cleanse my feng shui crystal and tzi bead jewellery before wearing them? |
| A. There are a number of different methods and I have used a couple of the methods below and found them effective.
Smudging: Hold your gemstone or crystal over the smoke of your incense for a few minutes to smudge the gem or crystal and clear the energy inside. Some people will only use White Sage Smudge (this is my preference), but I feel that Sandalwood, and Frankincense incense are also good choices.
Soaking: Dissolve sea salt in a non metal bowl of warm purified or spring water then soak your gemstone or crystal - a couple at a time. Leave them to soak for 3 or 4 hours. Rinse them in cool water when you are finished to remove any salt residue.
Do not re-use this salt water. Those negative energies you wanted to remove from your crystals are now in the water.
Also, do not soak porous stones, like opal, lapis, coral. It will harm the stone. For those stones I would use a Sage smudge.
Running water: Place your stones in a mesh bag, and immerse in an outdoor stream or river for a few hours. This both cleanses AND re-energizes your stones.
Sunlight: Place your gemstone or crystal in warm sunlight for 4 hours. This method is nice and simple.
Moonlight: Place your gemstone or crystal in direct moonlight overnight. A nice sized window sill is perfect. |

| Q. What are salt crystal lamps? |
| A. Salt crystal lamps have a similar effect to an ionizer. According to research, a heated salt crystal lamp generates ‘natural negative ions’ and are said to improve the general atmosphere of the room by up to 300%.
Harmful excessive positive ions created by our televisions, computers and electrical boxes to name a few can result in increased nervousness, a lack of concentration, ADHD symptoms, and insomnia or at the very least disturbed and disrupted sleeping patterns.
The negative ion emission by the salt crystal lamp binds with the excess positive ions thereby neutralising the charged atmosphere in the room. This in turn positively supports your physical and emotional health.

|
| Q. Can you please tell me where is the best place to put the "Double Luck Sun Catcher" and is it true that you should not place crystals in the north? |
| A. I have not heard of any problems with placing crystals in the North. It would be advantageous to ask the person that shared this with you if they could also share the reason for their comment.
Double Luck Sun catcher can be placed anywhere in the home. The reason being is that it symbolises happiness in both relationship and wealth. |

|
| Q. I have an enquiry regarding the six metal coins. I have the same thing but with nine metal coins, is it the same or do they differ?
in meaning. |
| A. In Feng Shui the six metal coins are unique in their application and specifically used to improve health. They should be placed in a certain location in your home which changes each year - click here for more information.
In Feng Shui the nine metal coins are more a symbolism of protection. |

| Q. Is having an office 'under the stairs' a good thing, or bad thing?
Our dream home has a room under the stairs that could be a good office location!! |
A. An office under a staircase is generally not recommended. The reason being, is that when you have a professional feng shui consultation and even if that location is considered to be a prosperous position in the home the prosperity will be weak because of a lack of accessibility to the outside elements. Plus, this location is usually not conducive to promoting a strong focus or an ability to concentrate well.
The wonderful part is that you have found your dream home - just endeavour to look for another location in your home where you may be able to create an auspicious feng shui office set up. |

|
| Q. I broke a mirror the other day and was wondering if there is a way to undo the bad luck? |
| A. In different cultures the breaking of a mirror can signify bad luck. However, to my knowledge and from a feng shui perspective this is not necessarily the case so, you can stop worrying.
Should you want to symbolically cover your bases perhaps you may wish to view the Good Luck sun catcher by clicking here. |

|
| Q. Directly across from my house is a vacant lot. It has a fence around it and a tree on the nature strip. How does this vacant lot I live across from - affect me, if at all? |
A. The vacant lot across the road can be a positive influence as it increases the Ming Tang and therefore the opportunity for the Chi (energy) to gather. This is particularly so if you have a very positive energy at your main door.

|
| Q. I have been told that it is bad Feng Shui to have a long passage from the front door to the back of the home. Could you please tell me why this is bad and how I can alleviate this. |
| A. The reason that it is considered bad Feng Shui to have the passageway running directly from the front door to the back door is that the energy is moving too fast and cannot be circulated throughout the home. In fact any energy traveling in a long straight line such as a long narrow road or driveway, passage, a road leading to a T junction etc.. is considered negative Feng Shui.
What you can do about it differs with the various energies and from home to home. However, generically the emphasis is on slowing the energy down. This can be achieved by strategically placing objects along the hallway to give a meandering effect. For example at the entrance you could place a console table and further along an urn or a hallstand. |

|
| Q. I have moved into a new office where my desk is directly in line with the office door, which opens out onto a corridor! and also faces a door leading out into another corridor! I know all this is bad! but I cannot move my desk. |
| A.
This is the problem with open plan offices. If you are unable to alter this configuration - the usual way of dealing with physical shars (i.e. the corridors) is to place a Kirin, or Chi ling on guard to face them. |
| |
|
| Q. Hi, My front door is right in front of the staircase - can you recommend which items I should buy to correct this? Can i use the Kirin or Good Luck sun catcher ? Thanks
|
| A.
The best way to deal with the situation is to move either the door or the staircase. Both options are usually difficult and expensive to exercise. Another option would be to place a screen in between the door and the staircase or slow/divert the energy in another way. The suncatchers would be a better alternative to the Kirin. |

| Q. I Have a house that has the front door in line with the back door could you please advise me on how to rectify this. |

| Q. I would like to know what is the best position to have my bed in my room. I have two options. Head on the north wall with the door at my left or my head on the west wall with the door at my feet. |
| A.
It is great that you have two options. Without knowing very specific information it is inappropriate to make precise recommendations for the placement of your bed. The major things to watch out for are that your bedhead rests against a solid wall, that this wall does not have your power box mounted on it and that your feet do not directly face the door.

| Q. Can you please advise where the best position is for a lucky/money plant. My sister has one in laundry, is that ok? |
| A.
We have had a few questions come in just lately in reference to plants. Without knowing very specific Feng Shui information about you and your home it is very difficult to recommend where the most prudent place is for you to have your Lucky Money Plant.
Here are some suggestions re placement: For the entire year of 2008 the best positions will be the North and Southwest. |
